We take one part spark-plug fluid. An unhealthy helping of axle grease. And a macro-dose of brain-bending, jet black acid. Then mix in a five-gallon bucket until the contents resemble ooze spilling from Chernobyl’s long-lost singletrack. Drop in a pair of Ripton tech jorts, top off with a splash of Four Loko, and apply a light smoke. 24 hours later, we unearth our mutated masterpiece: the V3 Black Acid technical denim jort.

My biking pals all had jorts so I obviously had to get some too. Super comfy and I’ve never looked better on my bike.
I’ve never been this excited about something so basic in my life. But they fit a very specific function of looking good and being super comfortable to do everything in, and don’t need washed much, which, for our lifestyle, is just useful and great. Few things in my wardrobe fit the bill of “can eat it on my bike and also go to dinner in.” And supporting a new company run by cool people that do the things we do just seems good.
I’m obsessed. I was a bit nervous about sizing because I bought these and got a friend to send them to me in NZ so I knew returns would be a B. But alas they fit like Cinderella’s slipper! I’ve biked, hiked, worked, and just lived in these shorts since I got them. Really regret not getting the lighter color before they went out of stock! Can’t wait to spend summer in these beauties! For reference, I’m 5’7 and ~130 and the 27 fits perfectly.
At first, I thought I'd just use these for shorter rides, but after wearing them for a long high alpine ride, I was convinced otherwise. I've found that these shorts are great for anything, from shredding that summer ski line to long rides deep in the backcountry. Fit-wise they're initially snug, then loosen up after sweating in them; but, not as bad as regular jean material. I do wear a chamois under them, so sized accordingly. I'm 5'5"/165cm, 115lbs/52kg, with max hip circumference of 34.5"/87.6cm, 25.5"/64.8cm waist and the size 25 fit pretty well.
Bought these after getting a pair of overalls that I love. The jorts are extremely comfortable and will be my new everyday summer wear.
